4 Reasons I'm Excited to Go Back to School
I'm starting school in a week and thought I'd do a list of reasons why I'm excited, because I know some people aren't, so maybe you'll get excited. And, I also do have reasons to be sad, but I'm not going to dwell on them.
1) Back-to-School shopping
I think fall and spring are the best seasons for fashion, because you're not limited in what you wear because of the weather. In the summer, you just want to keep from overheating, and the winter you want to stay warm. But in the fall and spring, the mild weather makes for more flexiblity.
2) School Supplies
I know some people hate this, but I'm looking forward to buying a cute agenda, and colorful notebooks. This has been a drag in the past, but this year I'm going to try to match everything, which will make it more fun.
3) Catching Up with Friends
I've done a lot of this summer, and I even had a kind of milestone, and I'm soooo excited to share with my friends that I haven't seen all summer.
4) SENIOR YEAR BABY!!!!!
Yes, I'm officially a high school senior, and man, am I excited. A shorter school year, an all night grad party, no worries the second semester. Sure, at first I'll have college applications to fill out and stuff, but there so many other fun things.

My NSLC Experience
I know I was gone for a while, but I was at the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) at Fordham University in New York. It was ten days long, and the one I attended was for Sports and Entertainment Management.
First, a quick background: NSLC is a program for students who are about to be either juniors or seniors. You get to stay at a college campus, go to lectures, and do simulations on the subject you chose. They have quite a few options, including theater, culinary, business and politics.
Now for my experience: The classes/ lectures were okay for the most part. There was one really bad lecturer, and one really good one.
The simulations were fun, though. For one of them, we got to be an agency, and we had to sign a client. My agency was exclusive to athletes, so we signed a basketball player. We then had to sign him to a team, get him endorsements, and keep his public image clean. The other simulation was event planning. I helped plan a social, which turned out great and it was a lot of fun.
And what I got from this experience: Well, something to put on my college app, and a letter of recommendation for starters. I wouldn't say I learned a lot from the lectures or anything, but I certainly got a good idea of what means to be in the Sports and Entertainment business. I'd say the main thing I got out of it was the experiences. We toured NBC studios, Yankee Stadium, and Radio City Music Hall. There a lot of socials, and tons of cool people from around the country, who were on the same career path as me. You get closer to people than you would think is possible in the ten days you're there. Not to mention the fact that I got a sense of college life.
It is an expensive program, but it's also a unique experience, and if you're passionate about one of the subjects, I would recommend it.

First Day of Summer and a Haul
So, I took my last final yesterday. Chemistry. So, now summer has officially begun. Yay!!!!!]
First, I want to give you guys a preview of what I'm doing this summer:
July 5 - 14 I'm doing a program at a university in New York.
Sometime later in July and in August I'm going to Romania (I'm Romanian by the way), but I'm not sure when.
Now, I thought I would do a sort of mini haul with some stuff I bought yesterday and today. It's pretty random, but I figured - why not?
Yesterday, I was hanging out in my town's center (or downtown, if you prefer), and waiting for a restaurant to start serving lunch, so I decide to browse a store. Unfortunately, I don't think I can tell you the name, because it's local. I bought this body wash, for $5:
Then today, I went to Barnes & Nobles to pick up a book for summer reading. Because the senior classes at my school are basically electives, very few require summer reading. So the only book I had to get was for politics, and it is called Hardball: How Politics is Told - By One Who Knows the Game, and it's by Chris Matthews, who also has a tv show called Hardball on some news channel.

It smells really floral, with a very subtle musky undertone, I think. I'm really bad at describing scents.

Then I went to the Paper Store, which I think is only in New England, but that's a fairly large area, so I doubt you'll be able to figure out where I live.
I got one of those Vera Bradley wristlets that everyone seems to have. It's like a wallet, but there's a spot for your phone, and it has a little clip, so you can attach your keys.
Last, I went to another local store and got a crossbody bag. I've been wanting one for sooooooo long, because I think it's really practical for the summer. I also liked the pattern.
So, that's it. Talk to you later!

The Digital Age
Okay, so I know I haven't posted in a while, but I swear, I have had nothing to blog about. But now I do.
See, last night, the keyboard on my laptop kinda broke. My dad ordered me a new one today, but it'll take ten days to get here. We ended up going to Staples and getting a temporary separate keyboard (you know, like a desktop one).
Anyway, I'm on my computer one, but today I had to think about what I would without a computer for ten days. My mom said I could use her computer for my school stuff, although the problem was, all my school documents are on my hard drive, which my dad was unable to remove. But what everything else? What would I do with my free time? What I could I do that didn't involve a computer. Well, earlier today, when I didn't have a keyboard, I tried knitting, and failed miserably.
My media studies teacher once asked my class if we thought we were addicted to the internet. Truth is, we're addicted to our computers. Not because we think it'll makes us cool, or anything, like other drugs, but because it's all we know. We don't know how to write an essay with pencil and paper. We don't know how entertain ourselves without electronics. But the thing is, it's not us, it's the world we live in.
Back in the 1800s, they didn't have internet, and they were fine, because they didn't know about it. We know about it, and it's just so convenient, it's hard not to use it.
So don't feel guilty if you're an internet addict, we can all have an IA meeting.

Happy Early Valentine's Day!
So, the whole posting at least once a week didn't work out that well. School, and other stuff just kind of got in the way, but in the future, I will try to make my posts more regular.
Today at my school we had something called "Singing Valentines". Why we had them today and not tomorrow, since tomorrow is Valentine's day, I don't know. But, basically how it works, is people pay acapella groups to serenade their friends, boyfriends or girlfriends. The performances happen during classes (which some teachers don't appreciate, so they opt out).
I've actually never gotten one, but today I got to see nine. It's really funny, because the people that are being serenaded always look sopp awkward. I mean, there are four people circling you and singing.
Alright, that's it for now. I'll put up a playlist later with love songs, so look for that!
